Default Viper T/A edition

TLDR; Ralph didn't like how the last test went with the ZR1 and Viper so they made this version in response before the first vipers are even delivered. The cup tires and Trofeos can't arrive soon enough in 355 tire sizes. 1:30, even with slicks is flying.

Of course the first new fastest version of the viper would be orange!

Amazing that they got that much time out of just tuning the suspension! Well done!

Very impressive, not just the viper, but the frequency of comparatively affordable american 'muscle' cars on the list of the fastest cars around leguna seca. Anything that goes around a track of that style faster than an MP4-12C gets my respect - much less for half the price and probably much less running costs.

This is awesome, but I'm mostly impressed with the time for the 2012 Z06. It's less than 1 second off the pace of the leader! That is freaking incredible for a car that starts at below $80k.

I'd be interested to hear from Quick AG what he thinks of the Z06s he encounters on the track relative to his ZR1, as well as why he went with the ZR1 instead of the Z06 plus some track parts (of course the answer is obvious to some extent but Quick AG has previously modified his cars so I'd like to hear why he specifically went that route).

When you have an 8.4 litre V10 and that much power and torque you better be fast. Cars like the Porsche 911 are much more impressive - far less power and torque yet the best chassis in the business.
Add more power to them and you have an unbeatable car.

Some would say the most impressive thing to do is get results in the simplest and least costly manner. Porsche 911s would be impressive if they dropped their base price about $20k.

If that were the case, most of us would not have bought an S2000. A Camaro Z-28 with some sticky tires would have been cheaper and faster.

Track times are just bragging rights. Only a tiny percentage of owners will ever drive their cars this seriously anyway.

Just sayin'

Can we just appreciate a ridiculously fast car without tailspinning into porsches and irrelevant sticker prices?

I think the Z06 they tested was almost 100k msrp with all the zr1 upgrades, CC brakes, etc. But, I'm sure you can find them for cheaper.

Also, the corsa is a nice rainy day track tire, but it isn't nearly as fast as a cup tire, in my experience. The viper could shave another 1 sec with cup or trofeos. Hopefully, they will appear in the correct sizes soon. I was hoping they would just slap on some 345 cup tires and give a shot!

The GT2RS at over $200k and carrera GT at over $400k (probably my all time favorite car) couldn't beat the last gen viper at the ring while weighing a lot less and having more HP. Porsche doesn't even have a car that can compete with these two cars right now....unless you are talking cup cars. Actually, the viper on slicks looks to be close to the 380-400hp cup race car. That's impressive for a street car that weighs over 500lbs more and has a standard manual.

Your statement is ridiculous. my guess if you spent more time on the track you would come to appreciate all kinds of cars and the different ways to get around a track quickly.

It's very impressive and while I've never driven a Viper, or even sat in one for that matter, I don't think I would ever get used to facing off left from the waist down.

s2kpdx01 is it uncomfortable to check your "blind spot" on the right? I'd imagine it's a long way to twist your body in comparison to a car where your feet are just strait in front of the rest of you.
