Default Volkswagen R20

Not sure if this is repost, but it seems Volkswagen is seriously stepping up their game. The new R20 GTI is going to have a all wheel drive format with 270hp which is suppose to be the successor to the R32. And the best part is they'll offer it with a optional 6 speed manual instead of just offering the dual clutch transmission the current R32 comes as standard. The body kit it comes with looks pretty good too! Only problem is, if they price it at the same price as the currently R32 or anything price above the 30K mark, they have to compete with the WRX which has almost the same amount of power for the price of a GTI. We'll see how VW will unveil the R20 here in the states and hopefully it'll be promising since I want to go VW in the near future

Over $30K and you're into serious WRX STi and Evo X GSR territory. The Golf is more refined and probably easier to drive in traffic but it's nowhere near the performance bargain of those two.

for the peeps who want 8/10s of what the STI or EVO X, and w/o the badge baggage of the other German automakers. Plus practical since it's a hatch. I'm sure there's a market.

Well unsure of the R32s, but stock GTIs respond very well to mods.

Finally, an AWD turbocharged GTI. It's about time! They gave up a lot of market share to Subaru/Mitsu over the past several years.

Having a current Gen R32 im sad to see the VR6 go.. its a beautiful sounding engine, and very unique... I love the look on peoples faces when the see the sound that comes out of this little hatch... Its just cool to have a VR6, AWD, twin clutch 2dr Hatch... i love the torque curve too..

BUT the 2.0T is lighter and easier to get power out of, so i can totally see why they would do this...
Looks like they will drop 200+- lbs and add 20hp. Not to mention Chip + intake / exhaust and youre flying.

I REALLY want / wanted a EVO X GSR, but the interior just kills it for me.. and some of the ones ive seen used seem to age very very fast (seats wear quick, dash fades etc)... On the flipside they are performance monsters. But an R20 just might be perfect... 2doors, audi interior... Turbo.
