I think I would have to agree with 50cent on this one. Your best bet is if the cop doesn't show up. If he does, you are probably gonna lose out. The best you can hope for is a reduction if you have a good driving record. You just have to be honest and state your case calmly. Forget an attorney...it's not worth it. Good luck!

What anyone would have done is hindsight and Monday morning quarterback BS. Just explain this to the judge and let him make the decision. Then you'll know if what you did was right or wrong.

I have cops follow me all the time, i dont know why but i guess they have nothing better to do. The bad part on my self i have studied cop cars to the point that i can tell if it is a cop or not from at least 50 yards away. When i know its a cop a slow down to the speed limit and they follow on my butt for soooo long, i mean you know they want to catch you doing something. So dont do nething at all. Like i said i slow down to the speed limit or slower. The other night a cop was following me for atleast 5 miles after doin a 35 in a 45 for that 5 miles he slammed on his brakes did a U turn on a public road and i went on my way.

Speeding? You are being charged with an infraction. The prosecution is saying you have been caught violating the rules. You want to challenge it?

You fight fire with fire. Your job is to catch them violating the rules.

ie: Cop doesn't show up for court. Lack of or improper evidence. Etc... That's how the game is played. Even if you score, it is possible to get a corrupt judge who may still find you guilty. If that happens, just smile and pay the fine. They are the one's who have to sleep with their guilt.

A poll may make you feel good or justified. But it is a waste of time.

PS: If your not having fun in court... you're doing it wrong.

Don't take any internet bs into the courtroom with you. Explain your situation and tell the judge you only reacted to the officers unsafe driving in that he was tailgating you. Tell the judge you slowed down and he wouldn't pass you. Only after you sped up to put a safe distance between the two cars did the officer activate his emergency lights.

Have you had the pretrial yet? Have you even made a discovery or open records request?

I don't want to sound insulting, but it's frustrating when people don't listen to good advice. You may have already missed statutory deadlines for making these damands.

You should have contacted the NMA.

You should have investigated whether the speedometer in that cop car had been properly calibrated. You should have looked into the law in your State regarding speedometer calibrations. You should have looked into whether the speed limit on that road was established at the 85th percentile. CA has better laws about this than other States.

The judge won't care about how unfair this was. How do you think he gets paid?

Take this seriously, or look for a plea.

LOL!

Seriously, even bringing in a copy of the Sacramento Bee newspaper to show the judge what the weather was that day would be considered hearsay and nonadmissable.
