Anyone know why Honda doesn't put i-VTEC in the S2000?
The S2000 uses 1 main cam gear and 2 small gears for the cams. They do this so they can pack the cams closer together and reduce gear lash. I don't think they could fit the existing K-series cam phasing equipment on the F series head.
I wish it were not so, because i-VTEC would give the F series a good deal more torque in the low end.
Honda made the S2000 with the F20C because not too many companies made parts for Prev F series found in accords and early models preludes...They did that so it would be a hard car to mod....Weak drive Axles/Placement of everything in the engine bay...Things could have been placed else where.....Honda was mad because of what tuners did to the Integra Type R.....Honda belives thier cars are fine from the facotry....The S2K created alot of buzz because it was honda`s 50th Aniverssary car so they new tuners would jump on it because it was only sapose to be made for 2 years....I remember when I went with my father to look at a black one back in 00 the price was 43k...My guess is it sold well so they lowered the price in hopes to sell more......Anyway thats why a K series motor will never be put into this car....If anything it should have game with I-Vtec but from what I understand the S2000s Vtec is more advanced then any honda motor including the k series....sure the k has it benifits but our motor is alot better all around......Sorry to jack the thread but I think the S2000 is fine with the F20c
Jstyles, the F20C has almost no commonality between the F20B from the early preludes and Accord Euro Rs. They even spin in opposite directions. The most they have in common is the "F" in the name.
