Default VW Roadster (probably for production this time)

Looks pretty cool, and the mention of a possible Porsche 914 resurrection makes my inner track junkie happy. Either way, I'm all for cheap mid-engine sports cars, and VW's torque-meaty 4 cylinders would be great in something more lightweight than the porky Rabbit.

I think it's wishful thinking to believe it will be ~2200lbs. I will never believe VW or forgive them after they decided to not produce this:

Doesn't the miata weigh like 2400lbs now?

Mmmm, Nardo W12.

True, I wouldn't put it past VW to fail to produce a great concept. I thought they were out of their minds not to build this:

I'd be all over one if they offer a 2.0T with that.
Nice looking car.

They did, it's the EOS.

Oh, no. That is *not* the EOS. The EOS is an awkwardly proportioned front-engine FWD chunk of ugly. The Concept R is a mid-engine RWD thing of beauty. VW doesn't get to claim victory there just because they used the same shape headlights.

I have always loved the Targa style car!
I read the article because I get the mag at home.
My 1st impression was the engine choices all seemed rather pathetic from a power point of view.
My second impression was who do they think they are kidding? A german car company getting a modern production car in at 2,200 pounds? Yea, riiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiight...

I think it looks a bit awkward, but on paper it has all the makings of an economical yet relatively fun sports car.
