I can not understand why some people do not understand this cheap beater concept . One you get the car you want and if it is not practical enough for your needs get a used cheap vehicle that meets the rest of your needs- Case closed!

The S2000 was fine for me when I bought it, but I hated driving it every day because I was constantly worrying about door dings and its sketchy personality in inclement weather. So, I bought a 10 year old 4-door Accord, and they complement each other perfectly. I'd like to have a truck/SUV so I'd have a complete stable... but it's not in the budget right now.

I live in Colorado and went from a WRX to S2000. I'd be kicking myself if my wife didn't have a Wrangler Unlimited.

I've had an impractical 2 door sports car as my daily driver for the past 6 years. Works fine for me.

I bought an s2000 and didn't look back. Even when we had 1 then 2 kids and sometimes we'd have to strategically switch cars to pick up the babies or I'd have to walk a mile to pick up my son from daycare because the other vehicle was with my wife and all I had was the S. Big deal. Totally worth it to me.

Depends on what stages of life you're at. Go think yourself.

this is why you have 3 cars: 1 for the wife & kids (van or SUV), 1 for daily commute/beater, 1 for fun.

in my case i've got no regrets having a nice and plush sienna XLE for the family, a mildly modded WRX to keep me entertained on the commute and in the snow, and the cayman S for when i want to have a good time

True. We are a 2 soon to be 3 then 4 car family.

1. The Odyssey- So useful and easy to deal with family wise.
2. The Explorer- essentially my all use beater. Worth more to me than I could sell it for
3. The Murcielago- coming soon.
4. The Mid size euro lux car- wife's car.

I wish I could get another high performance dd car like a zo6, but 5 cars would be too much at my current house.

It really depends on where you at in life, when younger you'll deal w/more aggravation to have what you want as you get older and have more resources (hopefully) it's not even an issue as you can build a stable of cars like s2000raj or myself. I have 3 trucks besides my cars, I'm into ALL motorsports and haul my dirt bikes and quads around a lot, then of course you need a big truck to haul the toy hauler around and to trailer cars and tractors and then of course you need a dedicated rock crawler which you also need to trailer....oh wait, that's just me, but you get the idea. I'm no longer young though I do have 10 mo twins

Im sure most of you car nuts out there have been in this situation at one point in your life or another. Have you guys/gals ever went with a vehicle that offered you no utility or was not practical at all for your daily life?

Howd it pan out for you? Regrets? What vehicles were you comparing? Did you end up selling/trading/buying another vehicle to fix the foolish mistake you just made? Reason that I ask is that Ive always lusted after an ap1 (for 9 years now) when in reality I should be driving something that can haul gear and people around.
For several years, the S2000 was my only car. I found it perfectly practical for my day-to-day needs.
Why do you need to haul gear and people?

That's what I used to say until I got... well, "older". And here I am, with an S2000 as the practical mode of transportation (the fun one being a Ducati Monster)
