They average lap times around 205 at TH and a good driver can drive a Miata to a 202. When it comes to laguna seca I don't count it as cometion as the exotic cars have an advantage to the sound barrier. When u cork a Miata or s2000 the motors do not like

Not bashing on Porsche either. I like Porsche but I can't afford one haha

also it depends on driver. Usually the gt3 ppl are elderly and the Miata ppl are younger. Not saying younger r better but youngsters have more energy.

WTF... yeah and the GT3s are probably stock with a warranty while the Miatas that run those times are so modified they are basically Miatas in chassis only and not street legal. I don't know what your point is. You can modify pretty much anything to be fast, and faster than a totally stock car.

At any rate, not sure how wavy disc brakes on 4,500lb Audis morphed into Miatas beating GT3s on a track.

Uhh gt3 and rs is track oriented. U can even get a full cage option. Anyways I'm just saying weight is huge. The Miata have 90 hp and the gt3 has 400? It's the weight that gets them to the finish line first. And your talking about a 200k car vs a heavily modded Miata that come over 6k. When u rock the track in a 200k car it probably hurts ur ego when a 6k carpasses u haha. Only trying to prove a point here don't bash me lol. Il take light weight over power. Light weight is fun and stress free. More power is scary (mostly, drove a buddy's 600whp evo on track and ya it was scary.) and u gatta be focused.

pretty sure it's the driver that gets them their first. Given equal drivers car with more power wins. Either way back to the wavy brakes. They have been around for years on bikes not sure I would trust them on a car, strictly from a paranoid stand point. They have proven themselves on my dirtbike but seeing it behind a rim throws me off. I wonder what the cost of those rotors are?

Singh_snisen 02-01-2017 10:46 AM

I think the rotor pricing is the same. I don't know how this will benefit over a stock round rotor. From an engineer perspective it could weight less. But that could also mean less surface area.

Pure marketing gimmicks. But then again unless you have asbestos brake pads so are drilled rotors. I can see that stuff mattering on something super light and not a lot of grip like a motorcycle. On a big car with 4 good contact patches you need heat capacity AKA weight in the rotors.

I'm thinking about "downgrading" my M3 to blank rotors when it's time to replace. I find it hilarious that the McLaren P1 has blank rotors.

Singh_snisen 02-02-2017 11:19 AM

Blank rotors are the best maybe tied with slotted.

I have seen these on the rear of a track-only S2000. No idea where they got them or how they performed.
