Default Are we a bunch of ELITISTS on s2ki?

Where are all the Kia/Hyundai/Suzuki, Mitsubishi(nonEVO) drivers?

You dont quite hear about them on here. Yeah, I know its a car enthusiast site but I'm just curious. Is there any other common cars that it just seems taboo to talk about? Post up if you think you drive one.

We have plenty of threads about Kia, Suzuki, Hyundai, Mitsubishi, etc. models. I think anything that looks good and has good numbers, makes sense, what have you...makes it on this forum.

Hell...if Mercury released some new Grand Marquis, I'm sure someone would post it here. It's CAR TALK. Now...that particular thread may get 500 views and NO posts... ...but nevertheless...

There might be a bit of confusion. I'm talking about people actually OWNING these cars on here. It is true that we talk about everything..thats why I tend to stick around.

it's hard to be elitist when your car is hardly elite at anything.

maybe in 2000 it was.

I think its because this site attracts those who own or are interested in the S2000, and most are car enthusiasts. And yes car enthusiasts sometimes feel a bit more elite because of our car knowledge over the average person.

And Kia, Suzuki, Hyundai, Mitsubishi, etc. are not particular brands that attract enthusiasts. The companies just aren't as well-established and are mainly focused on attracting the general population.

I don't hear a lot of people talking about owning Toyotas (trucks and SUV excluded), because all their other cars cater to the general population.

well for the most part, the people on s2ki are looking for performance in their vehicles...whether they be roadsters or SUVs, it doesn't matter - nearly everyone on here sees their car as more than an appliance to get you from point A to point B. If it was just an appliance, no one would wanna talk about them...how many Whirlpool Washing Machine forums are there, with how many active members (and how often do they talk about anything besides repairs?)

Kia, Mitsu (non-evo), Suzuki, etc don't really cater to us. They make ok cars, just nothing that excites the performance freak.

Elite has nothing to do with it. How much can you talk about a Hyndai Sonata, for example? Are there Sonata owning hard parkers? Are they rivaled by Sonata owners that HPDE, roadrace, or AUTOX their cars? Is there a big Sonata tuning scene? How many Sonatas do you see at illegal street races? What's the hot new Sonata motor swap? What's the fastest quarter mile in a Sonata? 16 seconds flat? What conversation can you have about the car? How it moves you from point A to point B without much ado? About how the cupholders hold your drink in mediocre fashion?

My point is this: Even if a normal ass car leaves something to talk about, people will talk about it. The Honda Civic is an example. Enough books to fit into 80 libraries could be made about all the talk about any given model year of civic from 1988-present...even non Si models.

If you have a normal car that drives well but offers up little exclamation or even subject matter...nobody's going to talk much about it because of the simple fact that there's not much to talk about.

I'm an elitist. Other cars are just too shitty for me.
