What is this for?
Well this has got me and a friend confused. Anyone know what its for? It resembles NOS but it doesn't look like the typical setup.

adjustable shocks. that's the remote reservoir.

That is the external reservoir for Moton shocks, the 3 way adj Motons cost about $10k.
As for why it's mounted there, well so the owner can show it off of course! Ideally the reservoir would be closer and $10k it better be one hell of a shock. The last $10k/par dampers I saw were fitted to an F2000. They were Olins that used a piston that goes through the damper body thus negating the need for the external reservoir.
Looking at the brushed roll bar and the high dollar shocks, yet otherwise a full interior I would say this is either a car to show the parts or a toy for someone who likes to show the toys but gets passed on the track. I would guess there is a good chance the reservoir could have been placed somewhere else.

Or, it could be someone that races in a class that requires you to keep the full interior but allows substantial suspension mods.
Or, the owner wanted the compression adjustment to be easily accessible, which is why the external reservoirs on my shocks were mounted inside my car's cabin just like this car's.
I can't believe people are questioning the quality of Motons on this thread -- Motons are one of the gold standards for race shocks.

Are they the gold standard? Certainly not for formula cars. Last I heard, Olins and Penske were tops in that market.
mxt, any racing class that requires a full interior would be a bit of a joke. It would be a track day toy fest rather than real racecars. Then again I do have the bias that "real" racecars don't have fenders (or tops). Again, a race shock in a car with a full interior seems more like someone is showing off that really serious.
