What was your first car?
Well, my first cars I guess I bounced around with whatever my family had at the time, so an 88 aerostar cargo van, 99 camry, etc. My first car that was mine was a 95 talon tsi awd which I promptly sold after a couple of months to get ready for college.. best summer ever, but dunno if that counts since I had it for such a short amount of time, so I guess my 1990 240sx fb would be my first car. Wish I didn't SR it (had to get it out of my system though) since clean, unmodified 240s are more rare these days and I wish I kept it... alot of great memories with that car.
your parents purchased a car for you? what a lucky guy!
I was 18, I had a summer job teaching robotics/programming to kids at a local private school. I checked out a 1985 V6 2.8L Camaro (TPI) that was for sale at $800. Offered $500 cash, and it was accepted. That car blew a t-stat housing which I glued(quik-steel) back on, it shorted out radiator fans and caught the wires on fire, it had no AC, no ABS, no airbags, the odometer didnt work, top speed was well under 80 MPH and was an ugly POS. It was my DD for a whole 6 months before I picked up the more powerful version: A 1988 Formula Firebird 5.7L V8. I wrecked the formula but the camaro stayed with me for another two or three years before I sold it off for $800. The guy just wanted a shell/title to drop in a built V8.
I still love the 3rd gen shape. Its just so..boxy. I want one of these as a "collector"

I really wanted to buy my sister's boyfriend's 1986 camaro. It was a POS and he ended up keeping it. There was that and a friend's Jimmy blazer-style truck. I wonder what car routes I would have gone down had I ended up with either of those.
We all definitely come from different backgrounds, and it's fun to see the disparity here since we're young and old alike in our S2000 bonds. I feel lucky that my parents bought me a "newer" car than what they had in waiting leading up to my time to drive...but my brother did get an 84 Prelude manual, which I kind of envied. Still, it's amusing to think the Accord is not far off from what my 98 Civic is now, and how lucky I felt to have it...and also how much I beat the crap out of it.
