Default what's wrong with michigan people

Ok, so I was riding, a mini van pulled up beside me, driving at the exact same speed, I was on the left land and he was on the right, he looked as if he wanted to merge to the left lane. Since I was riding on my lane, so I ignored him. This guy kept on riding at the same speed with me, he slowed down and the end since he had to make a left turn. When I stopped at the light, the guy shouted at me :"you chink, what makes you think you are so cool on a bike," then gave me finger.
Now, allow me to share some background story, 2 asian students from my school, university of michigan, were racially insulted and got urinated on by some white students, ( excuse me for not being perfectly politically correct), I am an asian myself, the minivan driver is a mid aged white guy, with a pony tail hanging out from behind of his head, after hearing what he said, I was totally pissed off and pumped up. I don't take any kinda racial insult towards me, that's just plain wrong and f%cked up! So I followed him, after he parked his car, I was like :"look, asshole, I don't know what your problem is, either you gimme an apology, or we take care of this 1 on 1" after 5 minutes of meaningless conversation, then I realized there is no way you can have a decent talk with redknecks, so I left.
ANYWAY, I dunno what's wrong with michigan people, this is really really irratating

Dood, I know how you feel, but you really shouldn't follow some guy and have words with him. If he were some crazy gun toting racist, you might be dead. A lot of people are very ignorant, stupid, etc. You can't change the way they think, they were brought up like that. It's not worth risking your life for some isolated incident. I understand the feeling to not back down and fight back, especially since that's a stereotype of asians. I'm chinese, I know. But if you get to my age (or maybe you already are) you've got more to lose so you just shrug some stuff off. I guess what I'm trying to say is pick your fights. You can't fight them all.

In light of the situation, I'm glad you got to say your peace and go home in 1 piece. What you should have done was get the license plate of the van, pull over, call the cops and give them a description of the van, description of the driver, direction they were heading, and that he yelled a racist remark at you and pointed a gun at you. HA HA HA. Now I don't condone this.

I think I have to agree. He might be holding a gun then it's all over for me
BUT, ann arbor people is suppsed to be very educated. I can't believe this kinda $hit would happen, this guy even called me chink moron, god damn, I am third year into my ph.d now. I felt pretty helpless for that POS.
oh well, most asian kids I know, whenever they got racially insulted, they acted as if it was nothing. They really gotta stand up to it.

Unfortunately morons and racists are not just regional. Otherwise I'd find the "smart spot" and move!

Dood, I live in the bay area, we're one of the most diverse areas. We still have racists, sexist, crazyist, whatever. It doesn't matter where you live or work, you will find "them".

And don't be fooled, even educated people are racist or sexist. They just express and spread their opinions in other ways.

I wouldn't have followed the guy - you never know where he is leading you. Could be a heap of others waiting at the destination.

Just remember that people who are always insulting others are really reflecting what they think of themselves. He is a miserable man and therefore wants you to be one to. If you ignore him then he will have failed.

I was a victim of a brutal and visious hate crime in August. 3 guys (pedestrians ) pelted me with stones after I passed them in San Francisco at a traffic intersection. I never said anything to them or even looked at them. Its terrible out there - everywhere.
