Wife wants a WRX STi
The title of the thread says it all. She will be taking one home tomorrow on a 24 hour "test drive" while they fix the A/C in her Jeep. The sticker price is 34,400...So what is a good price to pay? Thanks for any suggestions.

Jesus I'd love to have a wife like yours in the future!
Where do you find women like this? :D |

You mean the wife wants a WRX, you want an STI.
Blame it on the wife. ;) |

I've found that everyone is happier if you just decide to pay what you think is a fair price, rather than trying to screw the guy selling it to you, and also avoiding getting screwed. I always shoot for invoice plus 1,000... I feel good about that price, usually. Of course the more expensive you go, the more you may have to pay (depending on the car). But I've bought 3 cars in that general price range and have always done the deal at invoice + 1,000.
Can you get it for less? Sure. Is it worth the haggling, the multiple dealers, the headache and stress? To me it isn't. |
Best advice is this:
www.nasioc.com Search for it there. Don't post asap or you'll get flamed for not searching (those crybabies.) Look around your regional forum and see if anyone has any similar questions. If not, post a new topic there. The regional forums are friendly compared to say, General. |
My g/f wants an STI too, I told her I'm getting her that instead of an engagement ring :)

This is a good place to look. Nasioc is definitely the largest Subaru site, but iWSTi.com is the best STi specific site. It's a great car, I went from a s2k to an STi and love it. Good Luck. |
lucky guy. the sites that people have already provided links for are great sources to look at for any or all of your questions regarding the wrx/sti.
good luck. |
Thanks everyone! Now if I can just talk her into the black one!

i got my 07 for invoice

A good price is buying the car for window sticker O.T.D. In your case, $34,400 O.T.D. When I purchased my '05 STi, I paid $33,500 O.T.D. on a $34,500 window sticker.

30k + TTL. And yes I am being serious. Where I live I can get a new '07 at this price from multiple dealers.

I really admire these cars but I would NOT pay a dime over 30k for an STI. I mean when you get near 34k your stepping in the price range of ALOT of other cars that perform not too far from it and is far more comfortable. I guess it boils down to personal preference in the end.

you shouldn't pay more than invoice. the '08 models are coming out soon. so you'd be doing them a favor by taking an '07 sti off their lot. currently, there are two versions of the sti available. there's the regular sti and then the sti limited. they both seem to retail for the same price. and the invoice is $31, 618 before freight.
i checked edmunds.com and subaru doesn't really seem to have any rebates at the moment. just a good fixed apr rate. that's how they always are whenever i check. so i'm not sure if you'll get anymore off of the invoice price. i used to have a wrx that had over $25k in mods. from my experience at nasioc.com, search and don't post. if you really need to ask a question, pm a knowledgeable person directly. you don't understand how many little kids are members there. it gets really annoying. iwsti.com is a more mature crowd. good luck. |
If i may make a recomendation. With 08's coming out as soon as they are wait a moment and grab an 07' thats left over. I could certaintly see you getting it under 30k if you did so.
