Will the Gallardo Spyder command a $$ premium?
I was at Lamborghini Ohio today looking at the new Gallardo Spyder that they happened to have as a "demo" car. It is a very attractive car to be sure, but I couldn't decide if it was going to enjoy the same successs that the Ferrari 360/430 Spiders have. The 360 Spider sold above sticker on the grey market for its entire product cycle, but does anybody think the Gallardo will do the same?
Something strange about both cars for me. The Gallardo looks much better than the f430 in print. BUT, once you look at them on the road in person, the tides change and the Ferrari looks alot better.
If I had the money I'd still opt for a Ferrari, even if there was a performance disadvantage. Something about that Ferrari mystique for me.

The problem is that you can't walk into a Ferrari dealership and buy a Ferrari 360/430 Spyder or not. You have to get on a list and then maybe, just maybe, you will get one several years later. That is the reason why the resale is so good on them.
With the non-Spyder Lambo Gallardo you can go into a dealership and buy one and have it almost immediately. The downside is that they depreciate quickly and after a year you are down $20k+. With the Spyders I'm sure the wait will be a little longer, but nothing like the Ferraris which means they too will depreciate faster.

My boss bought his 360 spyder 3 years ago after waiting just 4 months, and recently got one of the first 430 spyders in CA.
He leased both of them, the whole idea of waiting is BS - if you have the money, and the contacts, you get what you want when you want it.

To be honest, that's absolute crap.

Ya, it's a myth that you have to wait in line for any recent Ferrari. Just look on the market for the ones that have been dumped off.
The only time you have to wait on a list is if it's a new model that isn't out yet, or is a new copy that you wish to buy from the factory, OR is a Ferrari special that can't be "bought", like the F50 was.
I've seen several used F430s for sale in AZ. DAYUM do they command a high price. The last one I saw USED was commanding a price over $300k because everyone wants one.

You ever notice Lambo owners are always modding their cars, while Ferrari owners leave them alone? My guess is Lambo owners are always looking for more because they aren't as nice to start off with.
