Hmmm..."poor" guy riding a customized R1, makes a bone-headed mistake (his 4th crash on the bike) causing damages he can't afford to fix, so he asks for, and receives $$$ from around the world to help out!

What ever happened to personal responsibility? Riding is not a charitable cause!

Here's another sad R1 crash story that was just posted today on another forum:
--------------------------------------------------
Saw this on a R6 message board:

I was at the local dealer, where my cousin works, today. I was helping him move some bikes, while I got new rubber put on. An '02 liquid silver R1 was being prepped, and was ready to go. We put the 30 day tag on it, and the new owner came in to finish signing papers. This is where it gets good...........

A guy about my age(21) comes up. He tells me that this is his first bike, and he knows it's the right bike for him. He's done all the research, and determined that the R6 was too small for him. So he gets on and is off. He first stalls it, when he leaves the kickstand down. No big deal.

Then, he takes off in 2nd, and it starts bucking him around. He gets it under control, and rides onto the street. We then hear a crunch, and it sounds like the tire is off the ground spinning. Yes, that's right, he dumped it at 5 miles an hour. Then he doesn't let go of the throttle, and it keeps spinning around him, while he lays on the ground. So he picks it up, and wheels it in. We look at the odometer, which reads 00000. Someone says, "the speedo must be bad now". Well, it wasn't, the ass had dropped it with 00000.1 miles on the trip odometer. 1/10th of a mile, and he now needs a Left side mirror, signal, clip-on, upper fairing, case cover, shift rod, rearset, and tail!

He says "I knew I'd do that, so I'm glad I got full coverage!" "Dude, I'm lucky I picked it(insurance) up today!"

He said that he accidentally started in 2nd again, so he kicked it into 1st. He then tried to see if the front wheel would come up, so he gassed it (to show off). The rest, as they say, is history!
