Default Z06 engine failure

This is not intended to be a Chevy bashing thread. I don't know the history but from the wording of the article it sounds like a couple low mile engines blew. They might have either one part that needs to be re-engineered, a tweak to the tune, or a run of parts from one supplier with a manufacturing defect.

I am sure it will all get sorted out, but I'd be upset if I were a new owner given all the excitement you have and it last for six miles.

He will still have a pretty badass car when it is all sorted. Or he could do a K20 swap yo!

I am saving for a Cayman that is still a couple years away most likely, and I can not even imagine how geeked up I will be. If something big failed right off the lot I would just have a look on my face like somebody killed my puppy.

Yikes, hope it gets sorted... This might sound weird but shouldn't those bits of engine have some oil on them?

Hmmm. Odd. I will be interested to see what comes of this - surely there is a common root cause.

Toyota responded in a timely fashion with a complete new car

I suppose, but if so, meticulously so.

Having no oil would probably do it though. Either way, crappy experience for sure.

That bearing cap looks to have a little clean oil, and there are some smudges on the piece of the block. Keep in mind on a car with 6 miles on it, the oil would be SUPER clean, and I would hope to think that any dealer who "road readys" ,as we called it at the dealer I worked at, the car give it a proper inspection. When the mechanics do their prep before the detail guys, the oil level check is pretty much the first thing.

Even if they replace the engine the owner now has a non-numbers matching car!
