This one was more reasonable. Not a showpiece, but shy of 100k miles and you are going to modify it anyway.

Stalled at $38k, I wonder if a bidding war will happen since there's only an hour left now.

$49k buys a lot of a great more modern car. Makes me wonder what some people are thinking.

I think he bought it as an investment, hoping for appreciation.
It sure will appreciate in value, but nothing a smart series of investments with that $49 can't outperform.

but yea, for $49k there are way too many cars out there
F80 M3, low miles
M4 low miles
C6 z06 - sub 15k mile
C6 GS
M2
M245I/235I,

all of the above cars will outperform it at the track, daily activities etc.

Agreed. Investing in cars is so up and down, but it can really come through. 911s are getting nuts now for instance but the difference is that the 911 crowd are consistently well heeled whereas the rx7 crowd isnt so much. I do see the rx7 appreciating much like muscle cars, but not like porsches or the nsx. There will be exceptions of course like that one where it's a super rare condition, but at that price I'd pass too. Another 20k on the odo and the price drops 10k. Plus you cant drive it without thinking of all the maintenance that will go into it.

Another car to add to that list is the gt350.

Not sure of reasons for the surprise.

One of the best looking Japanese sports car designs ever. And a very pure driving experience that is mostly lacking/missing in many of today's sports cars.
