Is the 00-03 S2000 the highest RPM factory motor?

Default Is the 00-03 S2000 the highest RPM factory motor?
Just curious, is there or was there ever a 4-cycle piston engine in an automobile that revs higher than 9k RPM as delivered from the factory? Is 9k still the record or is there something new that goes higher?

you are correct. the s2000 is the highest revving out-of-the-factory production automobile

wasn't there an old European car that revved higher than 10k?

I vaguely remember hearing about it......?

I think the S600 or S800 revved to 10k or 11k...

I don't think they went that high, but I know one of them redlined at 9500rpm

I think the 360CS gets to 9K. Not sure about that.

for auto, proably, The Yamaha YZF R6 motorcycle revs to 15,500rpms.

Redline for the F20C is 8900. Not sure why so many people round that number up to 9000.

There are plenty of bikes that rev higher than that, but he said specifically piston engine cars.
