Man u don't sound insensitive at all. Well the GF drives the previa she goes to college and works part time she is saving for one. I'm leting her use my previa right now till she can get a nice car. She wants me to keep the CR. But i feel like the CR does not fit in my life style any more. No way i would get rid of my Dog cars come and go but other things don't. I am 25 and feel like im geting sick of the sports car sence with ricers always wanting to race. And me always scared some one will steal my car
Keep your GF and your dog
Yes...you can always get another GF but who knows she might
become a life partner...
and of course your dog isnt expendable either....would your dog
dump you?...I don't think so!
And I understand the "racing thing"....I always have people wanting
to try me...and I can only imagine the interest(good and bad) you get in
a CR!
Of course..it comes down to just trying to ignore..of course then they
will think they "smoked" you....but f them...you could've taken them..
you just didn't choose to at that time!
CarMax is a huge ripoff.....either they give you what you want for your
CR or no deal...just go on AutoTrader....Cars.com..there's tons of GTI's
out there..
if I would've bought an S I was looking at from them...same year as the
one I've got now...I did the math..over the life term of the loan....I would've
paid $17,000 more than I'm paying now from a Honda dealership which
also gave me an awesome Honda certified warranty.
I like the GTI...but it just seems like an SUV compared to the S..but
I understwnd your need for more practicality..plus you can APR chip
it with no other changes ad you will be at 260HP and 305lb.ft
And downpipe/intake/exhauyst takes you way higher!
And it is supposed to help the entire DSG process..so no worries
about your car being an automatic.
best on purchase/sale!

I'm curious about the last gen GTI, with all the excitement around the new GTI, how much of that applies to the previous one? The look very similar to my eye.
As for your situation, nothing wrong with getting a good all-rounder for a car. Contrary to popular belief around here, there is life after the S, and in fact there are certain nuances about having multiple cars.

I just sold my S for an R32, which is the same MY, 2008. I miss my s2000 but the practicallity the VW provides is a good tradeoff. The 08 is pretty similar to the new MK6 chassis - I believe the only significant differences are interior styling (slight) and the outside bodywork. same engine, same transmission (which i enjoy btw). Its no 6-speed shortshifter but for sitting in rushhour and being a more relaxed driver, it does the trick.
I think you'd be happy with a GTI. The APR chip adds a nice power boost for ~$500 I think, the VW dealer near me offers installation under warranty.

The APR chip frequently goes on sale and when it does it's $600. I forget what the regular price is, maybe around ~$900? They have sales a couple times/year so it's definitely worth waiting for.

Yea the APR chip is a nice boost than you can still get intake, exaust, intercooler. But the chip is usally $700 from what i have been reading. I am going to get one for sure if i can sell my CR for what i want. But i am trying to decide to get a manual or a AT transmission. I drove the AT and it was really fun guess i will have to test drive a MT. I would love to have both the GTI and CR but don't want that many car payments. So maybe one day when i make more money

Get the manual, the dsg is great but 95% of the time it's just as boring as an automatic. And although it's light years ahead of a single clutch automated manual, it still has its share of idiosyncrasies.

Take the $5k you're going to lose overall trading in your car and buy a better beater.
