the stang is the faster car by a hair. it dyno's at what like 395whp? it's going to be slightly faster, however the ls motor has more potential then the coyote, and I'm sure chevy will be along shortly with a z28 camaro that blows the mustang out of the water. I would still take the mustang over the camaro tho.

The more I think about it, the more shocked I am with how competitive Ford is being with the new Camaro. I thought Ford was SOL competing with the LS3 and the 300+hp direct injection V6 that is the Camaro base motor. Talk about stepping up the game for Chevy.

So, in less than a year, Ford has countered with an awesome base motor of their own and this 5.0L Coyote motor. I love these horsepower wars.

these motors have been in the works for much longer than a year, ford has had excellent vision in seeing future trends in the automotive industry.

^Er, maybe not. the LS engine from chevy has been around since the late 90s!

but still, PROPS for a mustang being able to hang/beat the camaro. The last time this happened was in the 80s?

-edit-

I'd LOVE to see a DI+Forced V6 wars though! <3

If the chevy was lighter, there would be no questions as to which one I'd take. Granted both aren't exactly light weight rockets, but that extra heft is a huge turn off for me.

yea, but ford was able to accurately see that a trend towards 400+ hp daily driveable cars was where the market was headed and took a few years creating a product to compete in that market. I wouldn't say the 5.0 is a direct answer to the LSx motors, but more of a component in ford's overall strategy.

I do wonder if Ford would have put that 3.7L V6 in the Mustang if the Camaro was released with a wimpy 240hp V6 as a base engine. I seriously doubt it.

That 4 liter v6 has been weaksauce since it came out.

I never thought i'd say this but Ford is on point.

Only reason I am not jumping the gun on this is because Ford likes to make 50 different models of mustangs that might have slight tweaks or interior bits to it.

A regular GT is just a regular gt to me. I'll wait to see what the Cobra, GT500, or other variants they make to tickle my fancy.
