The 2005 NSX-R GT was sold out right away at a price of $500k.

Joke aside, The NSX with all the options at $200k is overpriced. At its base price, I thought it's decent enough, lower than 911 Turbo/Turbo S, 570S, 540C, R8 V10/V10+, etc. And also consider what "stuff" you get for that price. That engine is over-engineered for this class. It's literally a race car engine with Cosworth parts. As mentioned before, they could'be developed a 450hp 3.5L TT engine that can be used in the RLX, MDX, TLX, and then make a souped up version of that engine for the NSX with 500hp. This is similar to the M177 and M178 engines from MB. And it could've saved Honda a lot of money and NSX could've bee priced at like 130k or something.

How is the engine overengineered?

The engine was designed to allow them to up the power in the future to (cough) keep up with competition offerings.

i just crossed 5000 miles on mine in about 13 months

at full throttle and above 120 the motor is like la la la

in my s2000 at that pace the engine felt far more stressed

most exotics don't feel stressed at speed though. They are all too comfortable in the triple digits lol.

For the price, you have the NSX on one end of the sports car spectrum and the Aston Martin Vantage V12S on the other. Which one would you pick?

The comparison is based on personal experience and this being an S2000 forum the last time I noticed

the question was about the NSX motor being over built

yes, I think it is and the relative example was that I didn't think the S2000 motor was over built in a similar manner

i love the look and elegance of the Aston but if I were in the GT zone,an LC500 would be my choice

Depends if you want your A/C to work or not.

Not having driven either, I can only speculate - but based on what I've read and seen about each, I bet I would have way, way more fun in the NSX.
