Two things really stand out to me as ridiculous, the power level and the weight.

It probably performs astonishingly, but does not float my boat. And if it did, I would put it into a utility pole coming out of Cars and Coffee after two days of ownership and that would be that.

Something about 140 lbs of heat exchanger bricks that the larger supercharger needs.

I think they developed the LT5 engine for eventual use in the C8 mid engine that's coming up.

It has an optional rear wing that's larger than an ironing board. It has a "shaker" hood with a hole in it to accommodate the larger, taller supercharger. We'll see it at the LA Auto Show 12/1-10. The last time a I sat in a Corvette at the LA Show I bought one. No chance of that here. My 14 C7 Stingray has a ridiculous amount of power. I can't see this beast as a daily driver.

The cooling package is already available aftermarket for the C7Z (new rad, dual water-cooled intercoolers and oil cooler) and I don't consider any of that "serious" mods by any stretch. The cooling package on this ZR1 looks nearly identical, right down to the bumper ducts and added coolers you can see. The larger rear wing is also available from (I believe) LG and is properly mounted to the frame or however it is supposed to be done. You can buy the Calloway package for your C7Z and maintain the warranty as well, if that is your concern, and the Calloway car makes 7 more horsepower than this ZR1. I believe (don't quote me) it uses a centrifugal blower as well, whereas the C7Z and this new ZR1 are stuck with roots blowers, so the Calloway car should be easier to keep cool than the ZR1 if you want to track it. I suppose if the ZR1 is heavily discounted like the lesser models, it could be worth buying. Let's see what they want for it!

I agree it looks gaudy, and no doubt these cars are heavy, but I love my C7Z as a grand touring type car. It is really a blast to drive.

No one on this forum, unless they are a Pro, can drive this car near it's potential even on a track.

However, being an old Vette guy, I know that some of these will bought and worshipped. Only waxed and driven to car shows.

Met a few of these folks in Upstate NY, 20plus years ago when the 90s ZR1 was the king

With this, just as with the Z06, you must be very careful with the gas pedal. All the time. Or else.

Not as careful as with any Mustang, around a crowd of people.
