400hp DOHC 4.6 Stang coming in 08
http://www.stangsunleashed.com/index.php?c...2_articleid=165
400 hp
DOHC
4.6 L
Upgraded Braking package with road racing in mind.
Upgraded suspension with road racing in mind.
hm..... sure sounds good.
Not a huge fan of a heavy car but if they could lose some of it, maybe make that 4.6 a high reving one might be cool. :-)

It'll be interesting only if they actually keep the weight down. Mustangs have done very well in road racing, despite being more biased (in street trim) towards drag racing. Big engines, lots of room for extra rubber, and plenty of aftermarket support have helped there.
That said, I have a hard time believing this new edition will be much more than a bigger motor with a slightly nicer suspension. If they do it like the Cobra R, yes, it'll be a great performance vehicle. Otherwise, I personally feel that it'll just be another letdown. Higher price, higher weight, markups, and not a lot to offer over the lesser models.

I think it'll be interesting even if the don't keep the weight down, but if it weighs more than ~3200 lbs., I can't see any reason I'd sell my current GT for something like that. Yes, it is a lot more power, but for the same diference in cost, I could install a crate engine making the same numbers, and have a lighter car to boot. I'm sure I'm not the only one driving a 99-04 Mustang wondering when Ford is going to make another Mustang that is actually an upgrade to the ones already on the road (03-04 Cobras, Mach 1's, 99 & 2001 Cobras, etc.) without making them heavier.
To be fair, getting that kind of power from an N/A 4.6 is impressive.

Doubtful that it will be anywhere near 3200#. Edmunds lists the GT coupe as 3356#. Add to that DOHCs, 6spd, hi-preformance brakes...etc and you're looking at another overweight muscle car. Until there's a redesign and more emphasis put on keeping the weight down, the current Mustang will remain overweight.

And we need to know price. Mustangs have always been competitively priced until the special editions. Then they get outrageous mark-ups and have to compete with better cars (e.g. C5/C6).
