Acura TSX or Subaru STi?
These are two cars that Im considering. I think the TSX might be a better choice to make sure I stay away from too many mods.

Its for a daily driver. It will be my only car. I dont want to put too much money into it at the moment. The STi has potential to be another money pit.

If you got the sti, I'm sure you could hold off on modding it if you really think about it. I mean, the car is pretty damn quick. You'll be bored as hell in the TSX because it is sloooow.
I may trade the wife's Accord for one as a Christmas present

Have you thought about splitting the difference and getting a Legacy GT? I've driven all 3 and that would be my choice. The STi is just too harsh/spartan to be a d/d for me, and I feel kinda juvenile driving it. The TSX is just too damn bland. It's absolutely a nice car (much better from an enthusiast's point of view than the '03 EX V6 Accord I had), but there is nothing there for me to get excited about. I really liked the Legacy GT, though. I drove a 5-spd wagon. Too bad they discontinued that car for '06. That turbo flat 4 is a great motor. Much more character than the Honda 2.4. Interior is also every bit as nice as the TSX (maybe nicer to my eyes), though it is a bit small (but so is the TSX). So, the Legacy GT would be my clear choice. If you could spend a few more dollars, I'd also look at a G35 6MT sedan with just a sunroof (could probably be bought for $30K) or a 6MT GTO. The GTO, while looking like a Cavalier on roids, is a blast to drive. That LS2 is just a wonderful motor, able to make up for the most banal of styling.

Even though I like the TSX, my choice would be the STi.
