I've been looking and not much luck finding decent AP1's locally. Most of the E36's are beat to crap as are the ZHP's. Thinking about bumping my budget a bit more to get an 02/03 M3.

The deals are definetly there. I just picked up my MY01 Spa in July approx 70k for 10 G's. She was posted at work, and on craigs as a last resort. This was DC area as well nothing is cheap here!

I would buy an 03 - 04 G35 Sedan if your looking for more than 2 seats. It would make a great track car! This car is much more stable and it is lighter than a 350Z. It also has a ton of aftermarket parts and can be had for 8 to 10k all day long in the 6 speed manual. Go drive one and drive it hard, you will see what I am saying. Do not get me wrong I love my S2000 but miss my G sedan. I used to fit all 4 wheels wraped with R-comps in the trunk. I could also take all my spare parts and a friend with me to events. This can not be done in the S2000 unless you tow or pull a trailer.
If I wanted a car that leaned more towards DD duty and I didnt mind spending more on tires/brakes I'd get an 04 350z track. If I wanted a car for the track I'd get an AP1.

This is accurate. LS1 F-body = mid-13s car with the same reliability and part replacement cost as an S2000 (it lacks the handling however).

An LS powered F-body would fit your criteria nicely. They are a LOT more fun to drive than most here would give them credit for. They are at least as reliable as any other 10 year old car. And performance parts for the GM f-body are plentiful and inexpensive.

If you research the 03 sedan actually stopped in shorter distance than the track 350Z with Brembo brakes. That is compared to an 03 with the small single piston calipers and rotors (which are fantastic with CarboTech XP10 and 8's on it.) If you decide you want more rotor you can go to the 06 up G brakes and it gets even better. I only paid 200 for all the 06 rotors and 2 piston calipers with pads and lines.
The G sedan will hold much more stuff, better Coefficient drag numbers, lighter. and stock has a square wheel setup(longer tire life as you can rotate them). It is the exact same suspension, motor, ect. IMOH the G interior is far better than a 350Z. Both are not great but the G is better.
That is to name a few of the bennifits.
