PS- I love how BMW covers up the Roundel on the hood, like that's going to conceal what kind of car it is. I saw a 335is last week with that same "camo" on it... boy did that throw me off...
There is some stupid law that requires them to do that. I'll look for it.

I saw a red 335is 3 days ago on the way to a dealership in Miami. I wonder why the one u saw was "camoued"

I was unaware test mules were supposed to be attractive.
I was unaware that an "M" model rids a car of its dopey porportions or styling cues - headlights, tail lights, roofline, etc. Oh wait, it doesn't. It's an ugly car - whether its a 128, 135 or M1/1M/WTFever. BMW 1 series = fail. Even moreso than the original E65 and Z4.

Oh well, it gives the badge chasers something to lust after.

M Cars frequently feature different side skirts, bumpers, etc.

One of the main complaints about the current 1 series is the "potbelly" look caused by that weird line on the bottom of the car with a positive concavity. THAT is the kind of thing that could be changed by sideskirts, bumpers, etc.

Complain that you think the current 1 series looks bad, but don't complain about how a car that's only been seen in test mule form is ugly.

Dude, you are out of control, as always.

It has always been interesting to me how most people consider the 5 series a fail yet they adore the M5. Badgechasers? Do you know what percentage split is between the 128i and 135i? Are you aware that there is not a major price discrepancy? I've been on the Bimmerboards for years and you would be SHOCKED where most of those badgechasers come from.

I'm not fascinated about your new money pit of a Nissan but I do respect the performance it could yield.

I was wondering the same. I will say I'm assuming it was the 335is... it was an E92 with what looked like updated taillights and the covered up badges. So based on the fact that they made an attempt to disguise it I came to that conclusion. The other weird part is that central Jersey isn't really a know proving ground. I've seen lots of BMW test cars roaming around SoCal, but Bedminster NJ... the was the first.

Well, the corporate headquarters is in NJ but that is pretty strange. I personally think the 335is is a waste of money. I was just shocked to see it on sale so fast. My source says they use old Press cars for such development mules as this. The body is a 135i whilst the mechanicals are all M certified. All cars you see testing , right up to the semi disguised prototypes you still see after the launch are all eventually crushed. This must apply to the 335is as well.

I totally disagree. I see 1 series on a fairly regular basis and I think they look pretty good. The weird bottom sill thing is a bit off putting, but it doesn't ruin the car for me.

I like small cars and I love the size of the thing. Do I wish it were lighter than the 3 series by more than a couple hundred lbs? Sure. Do I wish it were slightly prettier? Sure. But it is totally acceptable in my book and I don't give two shits about badges.

None of my complaints will or CAN be addressed without a complete redesign. I didn't say anything about the bumpers, lack of sideskirts, etc. Again, its the headlights - they look dopey/too big. The overall porportions of the car are TERRIBLE (tall roof, short wheelbase, and Bangle body flaring)...

It reminds me of the "tiny" car photoshops. No matter how you slice it its just not an attractive car and is forgetable at best - no flare/bumper/exhaust/wheel setup will change that.

LOL.

The 3 series is the only good looking car in BMW's lineup IMO. And even then, you have to be careful with wheels, body kit packages, etc, cuz it can get ugly, fast. I thought the new Z4 might have been a sign that BMW is moving in a better direction, but after seeing the car in person along with the 5 GT, I changed my mind.

I don't get the 1 series. They are smaller and a lot uglier than the 3 series, not much lighter, more understeer and not much cheaper than the 3 series.

I just don't get it.
