Sounds like they were idiots. That exeact same scenerio can happen on the C4, the C5, the C6, ANY MB car with the retractable roof, etc.

Would you rather they put in a crappy vinyl rear window instead?
It's pretty hard to do that with the new MB SLs. There's a cover that HAS to be closed over the luggage area or the hardtop won't retract. If you can fit your stuff under the cover, you're golden for lowering the top.

Does the window really affect noise levels when the car is properly configured for driving? And why put sound insulation on the integrated weather cover? Strange.

Just read the on-line test and my interpretation of the text is that it read favorable instead of unfavorable. There were a few things they didn't like much: cup holder location, seat adjuster location, small trunk, extra work of fitting the top "wings". I didn't get the feeling that any of them were a deal breaker. I can't remember a car test where they had no negative comments at all.

My impression is that the interior fit/feel is somewhat upgraded from the Solstice. How do read this as overall negative?

The ADMINISTRATOR on the Solstice Forum claimed that C/D might have half-intentionally closed the top in a way to damage the rear window in a passive-agressive fit of rage that GM built a good car, or that the car might compare to the Miata, or whatever.

GM fanbois are often as (if not MORE) irrational than Honda/Ricer fanbois.

I'd think "DUH" - don't place anything on the gas tank and then try and lower the top. Makes me wonder if it was legitimate accident, or slighly, passively-agressively on purpose...
What a complete and utter asshat.
