My E46 M3 shifter is not nearly as good as the S2000.

GT4 is better however... IMO.

I didn't think anyone could top the S2K when it comes to shifter feel and accuracy, but I think my 997.2 GT3 takes it.

My GT4 shifter was fantastic, but I still think I like the S2K shifter slightly more. Definitely prefer the S2K over my GT350 even though it is good as well.

My NA Miata had an awesome shifter. On par with the S2000.

Strange, I have driven a 997 GT3-RS and the shifter in that cars was no way near as tight and good as the S2000. On a 911 there is a much larger distance between the shifter and the actuator fork in the gearbox so it is harder to have it as precise. On teh S2000 the linkage goes almost straight down. That is also why most FWD cars don't have the same precision of the shifter, they need to use longer cables between the shifter and the gearbox.

I believe the S2000 has the best damn gearbox on the planet, I also can't complain one bit about he shifter in my 2016 M3 or any other BMW I have driven!

My Z4M had a bad shifter - it was merely mediocre. Clutch was weird as well, though I got used to it...

Go for the Steeda clutch spring...It seems to be a requirement with the 350 from what other owners tell me. I admit it's always strange getting into it after driving the S2K. It actually feels just like the clutch in my RS...

I like the shifter in the Honda, but not fond of the 1-2 shift. Feels a bit notchy there...

My 2013 BRZ came close, but only after a few mods.

I installed MTEC Shift springs and a TRD Quickshifter kit (grand total of about USD150), and also had a WC Lathewerks shift knob (about 1lb stainless steel).
It gave the shifter a much tighter, notchier feel (and made the shifter in the 2017 WRX I test drove feel like a stick in a bucket of molasses). I personally feel the gates were easier to get right than in the S2000 (I really find myself having to be careful/concentrate with the S).
However it didn't fix the weird clutch feel of the BRZ/86 platform.

A friend of mine who test-drove my BRZ with the mods installed, told me it felt on par with the S2000 - high praise indeed!

I don't suppose I should be surprised, as the 86 uses an Aisin gearbox which is related to the S2000 box, IIRC...
