Default Carrera GT prices - luxury tax?

Ok a local dealer here in Denver has a new Carrera GT priced at $511,000. Now I am just curious why it's priced that high, with a invoice of $411,000 and an MSRP of $440,000. Anyone else know what their local dealers are selling the Carrera GT for?

Also is the luxury tax gone or is it a state by state thing?

I'm pretty sure they price it at what they can sell it for.

I've heard the assault weapon ban is over, but I haven't heard of any cancellations of luxury taxes.

they had a gt here in my city a few weeks ago at the porsche dealership priced at half a million too but the salesman told me they were actively solicitating bids and that they were over $700K already. I wish i had money like that.

Luxury Tax is gone since '03 January. I got mine '03 M3 without luxury tax last year at May.

Out of all the SUPERCAR introduced lately, I think the best is Carrera GT. It looks slippery and it has that awesome V10 sound....

It was selling at 700,000 when it first appeared. Many were ordered so the waiting list was 18 months plus. To buy one off of a showroom floor means paying a huge premium because of market demand.

FWIW, I saw an ad in Autoweek for a new Carrera GT for MSRP +$25k. Not too bad at all. I think I'll pick it up this weekend.

I would think if someone has the funds for a $500,000 car, they'd be able to dig a little deeper and afford a $700,000 car.
