Chinese hypercar breaks Nurburgring record
NIO EP9 Breaks Nurburgring Lap Record by 6.11 Seconds - Motor Trend
Looks like the Chinese ripped off SRT's Tomahawk GT6 concept.
According to NIO, the EP9 posted a blistering time of 6:45.9, besting the Huracan Performante’s 6:52.01 lap. If NIO’s lap holds up to scrutiny, the EP9 stomped a whole slew of incredible cars, including the Porsche 918, Lamborghini Aventador LP750-4 SV, and even the barely road-legal Radical SR8LM, which clocked in a 6:48 lap. This record follows a previous attempt late last year, when the EP9 set a new record for EVs, scuttling around a damp and cold ‘Ring in 7:05.12.

1300+ hp, AWD, torque vectoring at every corner, big aero. Pretty simple, really. Problem is, after the lap, they had 7 hp left in the batteries...
Just kidding, of course. But it does go to show, electric cars are amazing performers as long as you have battery power. The "difference maker" will be reducing the size of batteries that can provide maximum performance (range or power) for very extended times.
I'm curious about the huge air ducts on the rear fenders. Battery cooling, maybe? Without an ICE, you'd think they could seal the car up more (better drag coefficient). They may be using those scoops to channel air over the rear wing as well.

Thanks dude!
Wow and this thing is all electric too. I found lap video of it turning a 7:05 back in 2016, but nothing to confirm the 6:45 time.

We haven’t seen the new lap yet, but NIO plans to release a video sometime within the week. For now, have a look at their edited video of the previous EV-record-setting lap here:

I have to question whether a 1300hp electric car could run a full lap, or if this time is "stitched" together using sector times. Only a 7-minute uncut video will answer that question...
I'm leaning towards the side of skepticism. I can't imagine the size of the battery pack you'd need - and what that battery pack would have to weigh.
