Did you ever buy a car that was not really on your list because of a huge discount?

I tend to decide what I want, then go looking for it, so no. Plus, I have only ever bought one car brand new ... I tend to always want something that is a few years old by the time I am wanting to buy. so incentives really did not apply (and a lot of Japanese car makers seem to offer fewer incentives).
The S2k was a bit different. I was not looking, it just kinda happened ... and I got a good price on it with a pile of spare parts from a local autocrosser.
and with a shop in our family (my fathers) I have seen way too much from Chrysler/Jeep to ever buy one unless it were an old Jeep that I wanted to make into a trail vehicle (and I would choose a toyota over that for that matter). I dont care how big the incentive, not interested in them. But others info may vary. Taking a huge bailout from taxpayers and then selling out to a foreign company also did not help my perception of the brand.

I picked up my '16 GTI base model brand-new with $4.5k off sticker before the '17s hit lots with the new "Sport" trim. Not sure how discounts are working these days but from my understanding VW is still desperately trying to inflate their numbers. It's a perfect daily driver.

For a car that "doesn't matter", absolutely. In other words, if I needed a basic daily driver and wanted a Civic (surprise!) but came across a Mazda3 for a killer deal, I'd gladly get the Mazda3. Can't say I'd buy a Chrysler 200 at a killer deal, though, so there are limits...

Yeah, what I am talking about is for a car that would fill a need not just "Hey look at how much you can get a chevy spark or fiat 500 for." Also including filling a need, I would have to like the car in general, just not wanting to buy it at sticker price over other cars.

I’ve bought daily drivers before that were a good deal, but I wouldn’t compromise too much on a car I really wanted.
The biggest compromise daily was a Pontiac Vibe GT. Haha. It actually wasn’t too bad with the high revving 8,000rpm motor and six-speed manual. Not great FWD handling and zero torque. Fun car though.

Generally when I'm in the market for a car I'm looking for a specific car, or I put cars in tiers like if I was willing I spend this much I'd get this etc. From there I could be swayed into buying something one a different color or options of the deal is great.
