Drove Z4 M
I drove the Z4 M. Disclaimer, I wasn't allowed to accelerate much higher than 4K. The salesman knew nothing about the car. I commute in my car and the road noise is a real problem for me. Otherwise I wouldn't be considering the Boxster and Z4.
I can say that the handling issues of the Z4 have been addressed. I don't think it handles as well as the S2000 or Boxster, but is much better. Don't know about track handling. The stability did not have a heavy hand as in the regular Z4.
The car I was in seemed to have a stereo of lesser quality than what I've heard in the earlier examples. Seemed to have less bass response. Maybe just that car. Having a decent stereo is important to me.
Even keeping the revs down the car is quick. I could steer with the throttle. The clutch makes the S2000 feel soft by comparison. The steering wheel communicates the road nicely. Not as nice as the Boxster.
Some of the problems with the car just can't be fixed with a bigger engine or revised suspension setup. It's simply crowded inside. The S2000 feels roomy by comparison. The ergonomics of the Z4 spoil it for me. I'm 5'11" and to find the right seating position and and steering wheel position forced me to lower the wheel to the point that I couldn't read the guages. Even in the S2000 I can't see the top of the tack. Aside from this, I find it hard to drive a car that makes it so hard to see the road.
Looks like it's a used Boxster S or the replacement to the S2000 for me. I think the average S2000 driver would feel the same. The Z4 M is powerful, but not light on its feet.

Can't wait for some reviews where the car really gets pushed.
