Not having cruise control would be a deal breaker for me. Isn't it only in the Sport model?

Cruise is only available on the Sport model. At least it is offered; you can't get cruise for the scion xA or xB.

Oh yeah, any other cost cutting thing is probably not a huge concern, but an armrest is, for me, an essential "comfort while commuting" item. ...
What aggravates me is that Honda doesnt even sell the armrest option in the states or Canada but offers it in every other market, including Mexico.

Regardless, adding an armrest is easy; there are already several aftermarket vendors and the OEM JDM/UK/Mexico ones may work as well.

I mainly use the armrest for storage anyways, not as a rest for my arm.

I think the car was too narrow to put an armest between the two big front seats. Honda held back a lot of stuff, just to test waters. There's supposed to be a CVT version that gets above 40 mpg, but will not be released here for a while.

I guess (with the warning light) many will be putting 9 gal in per fill-up, 9 x 35 = 315 miles. It'd be nice to have ~12.8 gal. Fgure the warning light goes on with 2 gal left so if you could fill up at warning with ~11 gal and get closer to 400 miles.
Yup, that's right. My brother has a Fit and I have an old EK Civic. Both lights come up when you have about over 1 gallon left. He gets about 320 miles per tank (compare that with the TSX, which has a worse fuel economy but bigger tank, which gives it about over 400 miles per tank). I think the reason why the tank is small is because, unlike most cars, the tank sits under the front seats to give the back seats the many configurations.

At first I didn't like the Fit. After I read it on C&D's comparo, I started to like it. My brother bought one, and it is pretty friggin practical. I think the biggest difference between this car and the base Civic (a common comparison because of price) is, in addition to coming with more standard features, the Fit is much more practical for many uses.
Some of the "magic seat configurations" seem gimmicky, but when we went to Costco, we actually used one of the configs and a lot of stuff fit in it!

The overall car is narrow, and I believe the seats are different than in the US. I dunno, its usually cold here in SF, so I usually sit on my right hand. Don't really care about an armrest, haha.

There is plenty of inrterior space, good gas milegage and I really need a 4 seater.

We'll see...
