They also share a bit of the XK8 parts...which is good, I own one and it's Ford cheap to replace many things...not the engine, the 4.0 in the jag is all jag. But the block and some other parts were used in the lincoln and t bird of those times.

Yeah I have never liked these. They are just ugly to me. They scream old person car. I think there will be an odd collector market for them int he future but I have a hard time believing they will be highly sought after. The person that bought these new was elderly and I don't think many young people lusted after one when they were new and therefore I don't think there will be that many people 20 years from now saying "I'm going to get a 05 Thunderbird because I grew up wanting that car." Not saying there will be none but much smaller pool.

Not sure about these but it seems a lot of these retro styled cars were not the best built cars. PT cruiser, HHR, Prowler, SSR etc all pretty poor build quality. They do represent a time in automotive styling so there is that I guess.

This car debuted in the generation right before Ford turned the corner in terms of product and quality.

I wonder what such a car would be like today (assuming Ford still made cars).

Absolutely agree. And I'm speaking as someone who was around for the 2002 car and the original T-bird of the 50s. The originals were slow but cool (until they got bloated). When the retro one came out, even those of us who thought the original one was great looked at the new one and puked. I know no one who wanted one.

Oddly I saw one of these just the day before yesterday when I was out for a drive. I promptly forgot about it.
