Buick is the MOST LUCRATIVE brand GM owns.....in China. It is the number one selling GM brand in China.
I forgot about that...

I wonder if GM should just make Buick a China only brand like Opal is their Europe only brand. China has given us poison toys, horrible pollution, and they have one of the worst human rights records in the world. Buick is our way punishing their government.
The other brands should get the axe. Why GM continues to spend money rebadging a Chevy Traverse into a Buick LaCrosse is beyond me.

Nuke GMC immediately. Saab is pretty sorry, and Buick is nothing special.

.......
Buick is still in business?

I guess we can all agree that GM should get rid of pontiac and buick in the US, I think Saturn should be dropped as well. Reason why Saturn has more success is because they were created specifically to compete against japanese imports- so they have a more rigid pricing for sales, customer service oriented, and the cars are distinguishable from teh rest of teh gm line- remember the quirky plastic body panels? But that's the thing, GM should have that approach with their entire brand. I wouldn't mind keeping saturn around, they could be used to sell their more offbeat products from overseas.

buick got big in china because they were under the assumption that it was a classy brand in america, even though it runs on its own now (chinese buicks are very different from our buicks) there might be some fear of it losing its cache if they stop selling it in america.

Saturn could be GM's Scion. It's a good concept. A brand for first time car buyers and people that like small cheap cars. However, Saturn is also a salable asset and that's probably the reason it's on the block.

I do believe Opel and Saturn have some platform sharing, so they could be sold together to some well capitalized German entity.
