If you are going to spend that much on a used pickup from that era, might as well get a full size Ford/GM truck
He did say RELIABLE! I had a coworker that got 502,000 miles on a 90 model Nissan truck without a rebuild. GM's and Ford's will NEVER last that long.

You right silver, your always silver.
Anyway if you wanna hear the whole story . My dad had an 87 Hardbody. I had a 91 that lasted me 15 years and would have been more except for the Rust that took over it. Now I have a 95 replacement with no rust .
One of my last jobs there were 7 of us that had these trucks and one day we compared notes and the conclusion was that we ALL said these were some of the most dependable vehicles we have ever owned.
My mechanic whom I have known for over 20 years has a couple of these too and he says they are good for 300 to 400 thousand miles before they give up and usually the only thing that goes wrong is the water pump every 150,000 to 200,000 miles or so . As a matter of fact he prefers these over the newer ones!
He also said the KA24 4 cyl is better than the Toyota truck motor of the same era.
Oh and by the way the guy with the 90 model with the super high miles replaced his with another Hardbody of 95 vintage.

I got your solution and should be no brainer for 5 to 6 grand. 87-95 Nissan D21 4 cyl pickup . These usually last between 300 and 400 thousand miles and are damn near indestructible. Rust seemed to be a problem on early ones so try to get one close to the 95 model . Stay away from 96 and 97 models due to all those sensors!
Its a bit of a rust bucket, bit I have a bed cover so it won't be exposed to the elements. It actually does pretty well on gas, and the space is usable (I have a King Cab). I have 98k on it and paid 600 bucks with the bed cover. Its a tank. Its a great alternative to my honda in the winter, and I have not driven the Honda except for 2 days in the past 2 weeks just to run the motor and keep the tires from becoming square. I could not have picked a better daily beater. It takes 20 bucks to fill it up and runs for weeks.

The Tucson is cheaper, has more power and drives the same as the CRV, which is to say like a high centered car based cute ute.
In the segment Toyota has the best car by a longshot in the V6 Rav 4; Honda makes the most overpriced non capable "SUV" And Hyundai makes the best bargain.
And if you want the uninformed opinion of a 16 year old kid who has zero experience with cars, read S2ki.

If you want a truck to last long buy a Japanese truck. If you want a truck with a lot of power buy an American truck.
