i could also make the argument that real Benz's start with the E class.
That's true. Wish I could afford one!

At least the C-class doesn't have an engine that is mounted sideways.

The real real Jaguars don't have a "Type" in their name.
another brilliant comment soundly based on a lack of knowledge, history and understanding...

have you ever heard of the jaguar e-type or perhaps that other "not real jaguar" the d-type?

We can't forget another of the Jaguars without a "type" in their name: the XK SS.

And what about the originals, the XK120, XK130, XK140? I don't see any "type" in their name.

Think before you speak.

you're right. i'm sure you're always right. at least in your own fantasy world.

this thread had had enough BS posts without the recent additions. i'm not going to engage you. your reputation preceeds you and i should have known better than to counterppoint someone who knows everything already and has the world's finest automobiles at their beck and call. oops. sorry to drag that up again.

my apologies... my sincerest apologies.

This puts Jaguar going "out of business" by 2005, like I've been saying for a few years. Now if Buick, Mercury close their doors, and Mazda gets sold (I won't call it out of business, but they will be sold in desperation and hurt badly) within the next few years, all my predictions will have come true.

This story, while only based on one quarter, is indicative of a problem that will contiue to grow at Ford. Most of the other manufacturers that Ford has soaked up are boutique marques. Sure they own Hyundai/KIA and Mazda, but Hyundai is in debt in the billions, and Mazda's sales can't even touch the other big 3 from Japan.

If every other house they own requires manufacturing special parts, in special materials, at high costs, with low sales volume, that equals one heck of a financial rubix cube that'll have to be figured out fast. Ford always has bigger and bigger sales every year, but they always seem to be in financial trouble. Maybe this is partly why they struck that 6-spd auto tranny deal with their usual love-hate partner GM.

I saw this on Friday (sorry - I only had my cellphone camera with me)

Sounded incredible. Love that V-12 action. The Vanquish is soooo pricey though.

I think the new DB 9 is stunning If I had a spare 100K lying around... hehe

That's not a bad cell phone pic at all, what phone? The Top Speed segment on the DB9 was impressive, not far off in performance from the Vanquish, and way way less. Nice car.
