Default Jeep Wrangler Unlimited opinions - pics

I got this pic in an email from Autoweek. Do you guys like this? It seems a bit overboard.

this is my jeep...5.25" lift and 35's...otherwise fairly civil...

top picture has 38" tires with those aftermarket fenders... the tires stick way out beyond the body... mine stick out about 2". I can't imagine paying $50k for that... I think it is supercharged too though... so it should be faster than mine... of course a vw beetle is faster than mine..

yours looks good how it is. If you take it offroading, then yeah get the extra stuff thats functional. no need to make it look like it can climb walls if you never actually do it.
My buddy has one, god knows what he really spent on it, even with installing most of the parts. he has all sorts of suspension stuff, the entire interior/doors are line-x'd , like 4 different tops for it and something similar to the front of that green one - its like a giant bar for if you tip too far forward (not in picture). plus the obligatory CB radio for when you are offroading, pretty fun stuff.

Top one is neat but way overkill unless you're offroading. Yours looks good, though it's definitely not helping gas mileage and those tires are a fair chunk more expensive than the stock ones, I'm sure. Probably rides a little rougher as well?

Top one looks nice apart form the rims. Yours looks good apart from the Chrome. I see your running a 5" lift with 35's, Im running a 3 1/4" with 35's

For someone living in a city that plows in the winter and don't do a lot of camping or any off-roading, all Jeeps are technically overkill. And speed is not necessary in a Jeep, kind of by definition. Low-end torque is handy, but beyond that it's a waste in a vehicle with the aero of a cinderblock and the high-speed roads manners of a grocery bag.

So obviously the first is overkill any way you look at it. Yours is a nice looking Jeep but it's overkill for a daily driver in any developed area. I totally get the desire for a capable vehicle, but just like people who own sports cars they would never dream of red-lining or a diver watch you take off before washing your hands, a modded Jeep that never sees dirt or snow is simple posturing. Cool, but talking the talk only.

I have nitrogen shocks so my ride quality is similar to the semi bumpy stock ride.
