My 69 Z28... Bought it for $1,400 and sold it for $2,000. All original numbers matching 302. The new owner has had it apart in his storage since he bought it in the 70's. It might just be worth a little more now! Ugh....

I had a 1988 M3 that was bought new for $30k, almost $5k off MSRP. It had sat at the dealer for quite some, and my stepdad managed to score the discount because no one liked the Henna Red color. He drove it for three years and then gifted it to me as a college graduation gift. Well, he really wanted to get a 911 Turbo and didn’t want the hassle of selling the M3 first. I drove it for another two years, but excitement around the 90s Japanese sports car wave was too much to resist, and I sold the M3 with 60k miles on it at the time for $19k. I then “upgraded” to a new 1993 RX-7 R1. It was a huge jump in performance, and I didn’t really miss the M3.
I hear Henna Red E30 M3s are worth quite a bit today.

heres one with high miles went for 31k, i don't think you lost that much ~maybe 5-10k at best.
A friend of mine sold his 06 GPW s2k with only 14k miles back in 2011 for 18,500... and that was considered a good price back then, today it would probably be 30-40 due to color/ mileage combo

This is painful...
1963 Jaguar Series 1 XK-E Coupe
1956 Jaguar XK-140 roadster
1977 Porsche 911S
1987 Porsche 911 Carrera
and more at a fraction of what they bring now...

More of a "should have bought" story... in 2011 my mom bought an '07 base Porsche Cayman for $37.5k instead of the NSX I told her she should buy. Fast forward to today, her Cayman has depreciated $15k while the NSX she should have gotten would have appreciated by the same amount, while being a cooler car IMO.
