I have a 2010 SS 6MT, and can attest that the stock clutch is less than stellar. Combine that with a tall 1st gear ratio, 425lbft, and 4000 lbs to move off the line, and it's not hard to imagine how easy smoking the OEM clutch can be. That's not really the issue here though. The issue was that the techs burned up the clutch, then plotted to try to get the owner to pay for it. That's just downright dishonest. If I were him, I would have at least insisted on a new clutch and all repairs free of charge. I think a buy back was a little extreme on his part, but the dealer was completely at fault.
