Here's kind of a rambling post but I think this is an interesting topic. I've been driving the S for a while now and first off it's amazing. It's not even driving. Now I feel like there's nothing that can replace the high of driving a high performance car. I'm looking at getting a new car for the higher practicality but all the performance sedans that aren't the civic SI are 20k+ and I'm a college student. Has anyone gone from the s2k to something like a civic?

Get through school with as little debt as possible. Find a clean E46 330i sedan or Acura TSX with a 6spd for <$5k.

The Toyota/Subaru BRZ class car is a good one at price point.

Your long term future relies greatly on how you live the next few years. That future will not be enhanced by driving a nice car unless you are trying to impress a few skanks.

It's best to be a cash buyer when in college; whether that means 5k or 30k. Accruing debt in any form is something you want to avoid at all costs.

Park the S2000 and let it appreciate while you're in school.

Get a Camry/Accord/Malibu whatever beater and save some dough

As someone who drove a sports car in college and daily drives my S now, just keep driving and enjoying the S. Another or second car now is just a waste of time and money.

This. If you already have the S2000 don't get a second car; two cars in college is stupid.

Keep one car until you are done with college then see what you want to do.

But, to answer a bit about going from one car to another, I only daily my S2k a little in the summer (it is prepped for autocross, so not as nice to drive on rough streets, but I still love it). My regular daily driver alternates between my 05 Scion tC, which is by no means a sports car, and an 01 4Runner. When my wife and I are out and about, we take her truck, which is a 2013 tacoma. So I bounce around very different types of cars. After driving the S for a while, I actually enjoy moving to the other cars. Believe it or not, having more room and a bit cushier ride is nice sometimes, so it does not bother me that I am not in the sports car.

Now if your only car is the S2k and you sold it for a civic, I can see how you would start missing having the sports car, but I think you would still like the Civic for a DD. As much fun as the S2k is, it still isnt a great DD IMO when you start looking at doing regular DD stuff.
