most of the aerodynamic downfalls on the S are from the stuidly upright windshield and the soft top.

...And the short wheelbase, which gives us that tossability trait. Something that the 350Z lacks.

Everything is a sacrifice. If the car was a coupe w/ a fastback tail and was a tad longer, I can see it being just as slick as the Z.

I'll let the Z have its 13secs -- I imagine running the Ring w/ an open top would be 100x more fun

Honda spent so much R&D time and money on the S2k you'd think they would have made it more aerodynamic.
That was 10 years ago.!!!

13 seconds is a lifetime of difference and I was curious as to why the 350Z does so much better on Nurburgring, despite similar acceleration and 500 lb weight difference. Thanks.
1 second per mile is not that big a difference, and as previously stated, those times can be flip flopped depending on driver, day, tire choice... etc. Those numbers are rarely concrete or scientific. Bottom line: enjoy your car, doesn't matter what times it does.

maybe the driver of the S2000 weighed 400lbs more than the driver of the 350Z...thus negating the S2000's weight advantage.

I doubt there is a 550-600lbs race car driver out there... Let alone someone that big that could easily get into a car....

a 2 door sports car at that

many different sources all state about similar times. I am puzzled.
Can you reference to some of these sources?
Where did you get the times?

I'd formulate some ideas to add to this discussion if I knew how, when, where and who produced these times....without a resource to add to this point it make this discussion hard to analyze.
