4. LUX8 Angel Eyes
5. White corner lens caps

Drive Safe!

Tim

p.s. I still have my S!

** ORIGINAL POST **

I need a car that will hold me off for 2 years until BMW releases the 2012-13 M3.

In the mean time, I`ve come up with the following cars but I`m indecisive on what to buy. I need something that is faily comfortable because I will be doing A LOT of driving in the next 2 years. I`m torn with a coupe or convertible because coming from the S, my Mitsu and my Del Sol, I`ve always loved verts.

My budget is between $30K to $70K

Must haves:
1. Manual tranny period
2. Navigation
3. Decent mpg (22+ freeway)
4. 2008 or newer
5. Decent power
6. Fun factor to drive (I`ll be doing a lot)

Cars I`ve ruled out already and why.

Lotus Elise - Considering....
Lotus Exige - Considering....
BMW E46 M3 - dated. Won`t buy an older model M while waiting for newest model
BMW 335 - It`s not an M
BMW 1 series - hell no
Honda S2000 - already have one
Chevy C6 Z06 - Domestic, love it but will never buy one.
Lexus - Any, not a fan
Mercedes CLK63 AMG - no MT
Audi - Any, not a fan
VW - Any, not a fan
Mitsu EVO - 4 door
Subaru STI - 4 door
Toyota - Any, you need to ask?
Caddy - Domestic
Nissan GTR - No MT
Mazda - Any, not fan

Based on the cars remaining in my poll, which would you take? Have I missed any out there?

Thanks for your inputs. I`ll post pics of what ever I end up with...

Tim

based on cars that are on that poll, cayman s.
i would personally go for a c6 if it's only gonna be 2 years to wait for the m3.

If I were to ever get a vette it would be the Z06 and that falls out of the parameters of this poll.

I voted for the Boxster Spyder. I think the only turnoff to it is the top, and I'm wondering if it might be a bit too similar to the S...meaning you might want to go for a coupe.

However, I just can't deny how beautiful that Boxster Spyder is.

Agreed. I love the Boxster Spyder and had to put it on my list of cars. It`s a beast and other than the top, there isn`t a bad review on it. Although the top is nothing special, it would be off 90% of the time. It is however unique in it`s own way....

Based on your 2 year parameter, I voted for the Accord. For your driving needs the Cayman S is a no brainier, but there's no way I could recommend that because you will get RAPED on the depreciation of a new Porsche in the first two years. That said if you don't mind watching $30k go up in smoke over the next two years, go for it.

Beyond the poor financial wisdom of planning to buy 2 new premium cars in the next ~25 months, I think your biases are also silly. There are MANY smart choices that you categorically ruled out on your list. For all you know, the next M3 might not be to your liking. You could be riding around in a E90 M3 during that time, loving every minute, and then discover that it's better than the replacement, but nope... Not buying an old M car!

Good points on the depreciation of the Porsche. The Civic is where I started, then the Accord... then I started expanding.

Also noted on the M3. The current E92 has the hp I want, but the V8 is not my preference. With BMW confirming the turbo version on the next M, that will most likely be my choice.

Most likely if I go with a premium car this year, I`ll keep it into the 2nd model year of the next gen M to give them time to fix the quirks.

Would like to hear your smart choices barring my parameters.

Not to skew the poll, but I`m surprised the Boxster S and the G37 aren`t doing that well.... but it`s still early.

Cayman is great but the nav system sucks. You would be better off with a Garmin.

What about a Mustang GT? If you can wait I've heard the new GT motor is a gem... but isn't as exciting as a Honda business jet. Come to think of it, maybe you should get a Honda business jet

It sounds like you want a GT car - something sporty but good for a lot of highway miles. I's start with a Boxster but you already have an S. Are you keeping the S or replacing it?

If I already had an S and wanted a GT, I'd get a Cayman.
