Starting the Search for a new DD
I am starting to look for a DD, I am in no real hurry and wait to look at many options. Requirements are:
- new
-4 door sedan
-AWD
-solid automatic paddle shifting (I need an auto so the wife can drive it)
-fun to drive, but doesn't need to be super fast
-sporty
$50k or less out the door
right now I plan to look at:
1) BMW 428 grand coupe Xdrive
2) Lexus IS 300 F-sport
3) Mercedes C300
4) Audi S3
5) Infinity Q50 Red Sport
6.)Infinity Q50 3.0
7.) Jaguar XE AWD
8.)Acura TLX
9.) Honda Civic Sport Touring hatch (yes a civic, I really like the look and need to see what a car 1/2 the cost is like)
10) VW Golf R
Anything else that I am leaving off the list?

Honda Civic Sport Touring hatch comes in awd?
I'm guessing one of your requirements is luxury? If it isn't, I'd add subaru to the list only because you specified awd.
From your supplied list i'd pick the S3.
I had slightly different requirements, but also spec'd awd and ended up with a subi 5-door (<$25k). If the Civic Sport Touring hatch really does come with awd, it would have given me a second option. awd is a very limiting option, especially when you want it for less than $25k.

Maybe I will add a Legacy, although I did own a Forester XT and sold it a couple months back.

I think were I am at is that the restriction to an auto 4 door makes it hard to get excited. I don't want to spend the $ on something that I can't get excited about. I would just assume keep driving our Odyssey.

yeah, on paper it seems nice, but the more I research the closer it gets to being off the list. The dual clutch sound neat as do the torque vectoring AWD and mode selections. Unfortunately, the dual clutch is only available on the 4cyl which isn't available in AWD

Added! I didn't realize you could get it in an auto and not just any auto one that seems like what I want. The only downside is that it seems less like the car that you take to a business meeting, which I guess is also something that would be nice. But it really seems like it nails the fun factor!!

I know this doesn't fulfill your sedan requirement or new requirement but you can get a slightly used Jeep SRT for around the $50k mark and it will be a blast!! My wife and I enjoy ours a lot plus it has lots of room, handle very well for a SUV and is luxurious. We picked our 2014 up about a year and half ago for $51k with only 11k miles on it. It stickered for $75k. This is a car you can get excited about!
