Default Toyota + BMW = Supra Successor?

BMW + Toyota = hard to tell if we'll get the best of both or the worst of both. BMW builds a hell of a chassis and they have some amazing engines as well but Toyota's reliability is going to need to be maintained. Should be interesting to see them meet Toyota's reliability targets in a high-performance car.

Somehow this marriage doesn't excite me nearly as much as the Alfa/Mazda coupling. I'm not convinced anyone could inject a pulse into Toyota at this point.

Yeah, the FR-S kinda tells me that Toyota is more the capable of putting out a good sports car, not to mention the LF-A and the IS-F as higher-powered cars with serious performance.

IS-F, LF-A, FR-S/BRZ. Completely pulseless.

It's not that toyota is pulseless.....it's just that sports cars the way most S2000 posters want them, don't sell.

We think Honda is pulse-less b/c they discontinue the S2K. But if cars like S2000's sold, they wouldn't discontinue them. +$30K for >300hp is not a winning formula. The current batch of S2K owners who have them second/third/fourth/fifth-hand are too cheap to buy a enthusiast car new @ ~$30K.

If making a Supra was all they were aiming to do, they should just take the blueprints from the original. The MKIV Supra was so overbuilt, it's still relevant today.

What worked in the 80-90's between the Japanese companies was competition. In this era, competition alone isn't enough to stay on the cutting edge. I'm excited by the collaboration of these two Auto giants. Even if the union doesn't produce a product that would directly drive or can afford, automotive technology does eventually trickle down.

IS-F - The only thing they build that comes close. Big engine + small chassis = Detroit formula. Never been a fan.

LF-A - At $375K irrelevant when an F458 costs less and Godzilla can outperform it.

FR-S/BRZ - Great for penniless college kids and people that work at Wally World. What have you got for adults?

Even if they build an awesome sports car, I would bet money it wont be affordable to most people. They will probably try to compete with the GTR if they do.
