according to the internet you will die in an electrical fire in these as soon as you drive it off the lot.
i think its an awesome car, interior looks and feels like it is from a completely different class of car, they are built SOLID....so even though they may have their potential quirks I think it is a fantastic car.

I had a 2002 and it was a POS! The engine was great but everything around it was junk. Not sure if they are still as bad but I'll never go back no matter what. So glad to be back in a Honda

The cars can be fun when modded but don't bother trying to make any warranty claims. VW is worst then Mistu with making good on footing the bill for things that break, your fault or not. And it will break, but don't ask me how I know as my acid reflux will start up again thinking about it.
Had an '04 R32 with modified suspension and the service department fixed a broken axle/bearing under warranty.
Absolutely loved the R while I had it. Wouldn't hesitate to get another VAG product if I find one I like.
Looking forward to the new R20 that's supposed to arrive here next year.

I've been looking into a mk6 too and it seems like you can get pretty close to invoice though. At least it's not a Mini cause it's hard to even get under MSRP for them.

after doing much more research, why do people buy GTI? seems like the average price is about 26-29k. ive seen people get STI , 350, s2000 for that price. why would you get a GTI unless ur just purely in love with its looks.
Right now its almost impossible to find a base and if it is base its prob around 24-25k
