Default VTEC banned in Australia

NSW, a state in Australia has added VTEC powered cars to it's banned list (drivers on Provisional License) can't drive certain cars based on a power to weight ratio etc.

"P-plate drivers will be banned from driving VTEC powered cars from next year in a NSW government crackdown on young drivers.

The ban, to be imposed in early 2007, will prevent P1 licence holders from driving high-performance vehicles such as the S2000, Integra and Civic after a number of accidents involving VTEC kicking in unexpectedly.

The VTEC in Honda's vehicles results in a sudden, massive increase in power once a certain RPM threshold is reached. While experienced drivers are able to take advantage of this, known as it being "VTEC Time, dawg"; novice drivers were unable to handle the effects of VTEC kicking in, yo.

The ban would restrict young drivers from getting behind the wheel of popular models like the Accord Euro and Jazz.

After hundreds of pictures of accidents resulting from the kicking in of VTEC in Honda vehicles, the government decided that after independing testing was conducted the cars must be banned.

"I believe there is sufficient evidence to take a decision on this matter now," Mr Scully said in a statement.

"I have asked the RTA (Roads and Traffic Authority) to begin work on the necessary arrangements so the changes can be introduced in the first half of next year."

The changes, two of 11 proposals for young drivers made by the state government recently, would require major changes to licence registration processes and computer systems.

Exemptions will apply for family and work responsibilities and cases of "hardship", the minister said.

Community consultation on the other nine proposals would continue until February 28, 2007."

"VTEC kicking in unexpectedly?" It always happens at the same RPM on my car.

Maybe High performance driving school would be an option to teach them how and why cars handle as they do.

I took this as a well-worded joke.
Can't be serious.

Definitely a joke. The occasional "yo" and "dawg" are obvious giveaways, besides the obvious ignorance in the post.
