This thread is making me depressed, hahaha.

And reinforces how angry I get every time I read a car article where the journalist talks about we're in a golden era of vehicle performance.

x2. We're in the golden age of hp/$ and how easy it is to drive a car fast - that's it. Those things matter less and less to me over the years.

Miata will be your next purchase, then?

Probably 2003.

S2000.
RX8.
RSX-S.
TSX.
350Z.
The last S15 silvias were probably just leaving dealership lots.
NSX was still in production.
SVT Focus.
Mazdaspeed Protege.
SRT4.
First generation Honda Fit in existence (if not yet in the US)

I used to think the SVT Focus and the Neon SRT4 were cool. I also had a buddy who had the re-emerged Sentra SE-R spec V, which was cool too. First car I drove with a 6 speed.

After I bought my E90 M3, I remember telling a friend that I don't want my next car to be any faster, but I do want it to be lighter. A year or two later I bought my Elise, so I definitely kept my word.

Gotta be late 90s, engines from everywhere were great, last well built analogish cars, styling was good.
As far as aesthetics, gotta be late 60s early 70s, 69 was a great year for most pony/muscle cars. I wish manufacturers had the same balls they did back then. I hate all these focus group cars, and they wonder why the young generation is getting away from cars.

Is it just me or does every car on the road now look like a Chevy Cruze or Impala, the aero guys are all coming up with the same exterior designs, the jellybean shape is more prominent than ever.

As far as engines, small displacement turbos just have no soul, they may perform well enough but they just lack that special connection we used to get in past decades. As far as electric vehicles go, they better all be autonomous because they are going to put me to sleep any time I'm behind the wheel lol.

For the US market, I like early to mid 2000s.

Besides the S2000, I like the...

E46 M3, E39 M5, NSX, C5 Corvette Z06, Lancer Evolution VIII and IX, especially the Lancer Evolution...

Porsche still makes a high revving NA motor don't they ? I think they are one of the nicest looking cars on the road.
