WRX Sti WHEN?
Hey folks,
Not sure if this has been discussed before, but I couldn't find anything related in my search.
What I need to know is when (and if) the Subraru WRX Sti is being released in North America. Most magazines/automotive websites seem pretty hush on this topic. Anyone have any idea? What about power output or price? Sure would be great info to know esp. as my 4 Runner lease is up in a year.
Thanks in advance guys and gals.
Cheers

I wouldn't hold your breath for it. One of 2 things will probably have to happen before the Sti arrives:
1) WRX sales start dwindling
2) The Evo7 comes to the US
Not sure about how sales of the WRX are, but the Evo7 won't be here for some time...

Wrx sti is still heavier than the Evo 7, so there will be a new version of WRX, they call it spec C, which is 20-40 kg lighter then the Evo 7. But really the look of WRX is kinda strange (no offence). Wonder will the spec C come to North America?!

The Evo VII *is* coming to the US, it has been officially announced by Mitsubishi for US release as an '03 model year (maybe here late '02). It will have a few small changes. I think the bumper mounted air intake was giving them problems with US certification. And probably only 260hp instead of the Japanese and Austrailian 280hp. But, the car is going to list for Under $30K! Not really suprising since you can get an Evo VII in Japan for about $22K US at current exhange rates.
The WRX Sti is tentative for '03, but no official word yet. Although I think Mitsubish's US Evo release may have forced their hand into releasing it. If Subby is smart, they'll try to beat Mitsu to market and give it a bit more than the Mitsu's 260hp.
Although I can't imagine they'll sell the Sti for under $35K, let alone the under $30K mark Mitsu is shooting for. But quality wise, I'd rather a Subaru over a Mitsubishi any day even for a few bucks more. Even though I think the Evo is a (much) better looking car.

Okay folks...so here is the next question; any idea when Mitsubishi plans on opening its dealer network in Canada? I have heard rumours of 2002, but it seems to be all hearsay.
Anyone?
