Default 518i

Instead of the usual "I've got an M3(18i)" type badging up that you normally get,

yesterday I saw an M5 (Gad & Moggy style) badged as a 518i - made me chuckle.

That is all

I've seen a CSL with a 316i badge on. I was tempted to put 318d on mine.

Me too

I had been considering debadging, as anyone who usually debadges does it because they have a lowly engine.

I like the totally debadged M5's and RS6's... it does make me laugh!

Not sure if I would want to put a 116i badge on the back though... think I prefer the debadge approach.

I think you're right: Debadging is classier, but when you get those 1,000,000 variants from poverty to posh, lying must be tempting.

The Civic is de-badged, much to the chagrin of many Audi twats.

Wouldn't work somehow with the 'Lude or S2000.

S800, I suppose...

The police have been doing this for years. My Step Dad's old un-marked car was a 3.0 litre Omega badged as a 1.8i IIRC.

Odd since they didn't do a 1.8 Omega did they? Carlton had 1.8s though.

Probably did in germany; one could always buy big cars with No-trim and a 1,6 or 1,8 engine over there.

You absolutely sure it was an M5?

I've seen a couple where generally only an M5 owner would spot the difference - losers IMO.
