Default 911 (996) Cab's

Having one of those 'distraction' days when literally anything is distracting me from work!

Found this beauty on PistonHeads and really began to wonder if this is a viable option for my next car:

Questions in my head are....

How much do they cost to run?
Likely running costs for 12k per annum for 2 years?
Depreciation with the above?
What's the cab like to drive?
Anyway had a go in one?

My limit for my next car is

Have you seen the look of it from behind without the hardtop though?

Sorry Andy, nothing remotely constructive to say to help you

mmmm they do tend to look a bit bloated at the back with the roof down...

Would prefer a coupe or targa version for the same

But assuming that this is for Mrs Moff to replace her 330, I think it should be fine.
Ooops. Just re-read and noticed that you're considering it for yourself, Andy.

You need a decent test drive before you make your mind up. Knowing how you drive, I think you might find the cab to feel a bit compromised.

The Targa does merit consideration. The 996 chassis is based on the Coupe so has most of its rigidity. Yes when you pull the glass roof back and drop the windows, you can almost imagine you're in a "proper" convertible. The rear screen opens tailgate-style too, so it makes the back seats a bit more practical and useable.

Have you scoured the DVLA for P996 MOF yet?

Thanks for the advice

I did think the cab was slightly 'ginger beer' (to quote Clarkson) but I really liked the look of this one and it's a manual.

Haven't really found a decent 3.6 at the right price / mileage level yet. Had a good look at 993's but they are too pricey for what you get IMO and as I need it for everyday driving, the 996 is perfect.

Not sure I fancy a GT3 wannabe 911. IMO it's like having Boxster where the driver is a 911 wannabe, at pretend GT3 is a GT3 wannabe.

My perfect 911 (for my

Think I will keep the S2 MOF plate Mark... matches the wife's S3 MOF

However... there would be no harm in looking for a P911 MOF
